Description
Gunroom London Dry Gin is made just like it’s original Navy Gin sibling. The distillation takes place in a copper pot still according to the London Dry Gin principals which means that all flavour is introduced exclusively through the re-distillation in traditional stills of ethyl alcohol in the presence of all the natural plant materials used, such as herbs and spices. To a London Gin nothing else than natural ingredients and water are allowed to be added.
After the distillation the gin is then matured in ex whisky barrels for 45-60 days. This process gives the gin it’s distinctive soft round finish and sweet vanilla hints of the oak that plays well with the orange peel and spices in the composition. This cask maturation was a natural process for any gin during the 19th century as glass bottles still was a luxury, fragile and not suitable for the long journey from Britain to India. Hence the gin made it is way across the world in wooden barrels that gave the spirit an enhanced character, a custom that now almost has been forgotten. Experience a historical Gin & Tonic or a classic cocktail such as a Pegu Club they way it tasted back in the days.
Gunroom Navy Gin is made with 12 hand picked ingredients to reflect the 19th century style of gin with an extra pinch of juniper. The gin is made by a gin distiller who’s family has been making gin for several generations.
